Building and Property Use Policy

Drammen Lutheran Church is blessed with a wonderful facility to carry out the mission of the church.  Proper oversight must be given to ensure that:

• Adequate facilities exist to effectively carry out the ministry objectives and goals of the congregation.

• Users exercise proper care and safety.

• The building is protected against loss or misuse.

• Wise stewardship is being expressed through energy conservation, cost reductions and safety measures.

• The life of the building is extended through proper maintenance..

Scheduling

Meetings and activities must be scheduled ahead through the church office.  Please email drammenchurch@gmail.com or call the office at 715-926-5089 to schedule event.  Church events have priority for building use. Events for church members will be given priority over non-member requests.

Usage of Church Facilities for Non-church events

Members may use their building at no cost. A Drammen member must make the request and be present at the event. A donation for heat, air conditioning, electricity and custodial care would be greatly appreciated. 

Non-Members are charged the following fees to be paid prior to the event. Receipt of payment confirms the reservation. Sanctuary: $100, Fellowship Hall: $100, Cleaning fee: $150

• The church office will coordinate facility access.

• Your meeting or gathering must be confined to the rooms your have scheduled to use.

• Activities must be appropriately supervised. Children must be always supervised in the building, on the playground equipment and the outdoor areas. They are not allowed to roam freely throughout the church property.

• The user assumes liability for injuries sustained by event attendees and for damage of property.

• Users are responsible for cleaning facilities used .The church area used must be left clean and orderly with the furniture and property returned to its designated place. The kitchen must be left clean and orderly if used.

• A council or church member is responsible for turning off all lights and locking the building after the event.

• Serving of food is limited to the church fellowship halls (main floor or old basement fellowship hall)

• Garbage and trash are to be taken to the dumpster.

• Church supplies are for church events only.  All other groups must provide their own supplies. 

• If something breaks, notify the Church Office or Council President immediately. User is responsible for replacing damaged property. 

Smoking and use of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances are not permitted in the church building or on the grounds of the church.

 

Borrowing Church Property

The following items may be borrowed from the church with permission:

• Old chairs with metal or wood seats kept in the basement.

• Older rectangle tables kept in the basement may be borrowed by church members only.  

To use these items contact the church office to sign them out indicating items, date, and return date. Items are to be returned clean and placed back in the areas where they were removed from.  

Newer tables and chairs from the upstairs may not be borrowed or taken from the premises. 

 

Funeral Lunch Guidelines

Area funeral homes will have information to assist families with a luncheon The following options are available.

OPTION I:  Catered Lunch/Dinner

The family will make lunch arrangements with their caterers and will noticy the church if they need church members to serve the lunch or if the caterers will do this. Caterers are responsible for bringing the food and cleaning and picking up their serving containers. A donation for serving is requested.

OPTION II: Lunch/Dinner Prepared by WELCA

Lunch ordered and served by church members consisting of: sandwiches, chips, pickles, cupcakes or sheet cake, coffee and milk. Groceries are paid for by the family and a donation is requested for serving.
